In a bold move to elevate local storytelling and deepen its connection with South African audiences, in partnership with Canal+ and MultiChoice Trace has announced the official rebrand of TRACE Africa to TRACE Ngoma. The newly revamped channel will go live on 18 December 2025 at 15h00 CAT on DStv Channel 326.
TRACE Ngoma represents a powerful evolution of the platform’s commitment to showcasing authentic South African music, culture, and creativity. The new identity pays tribute to homegrown genres such as amapiano, Afro-pop, maskandi, hip-hop, gqom, lekompo, and urban gospel, bringing audiences closer to the diverse sounds and stories shaping modern South Africa.

said Willington Ngwepe, CEO at MultiChoice.
With TRACE Ngoma, the brand strengthens its dedication to nurturing and showcasing South African talent. The channel aims to highlight rising stars, pay tribute to icons, and elevate the grassroots cultural movements shaping the future of local music.
“TRACE NGOMA is where music meets identity. It amplifies the rhythms and stories that define South African culture and gives young people a space to connect and feel seen,”
